Kevin De Bruyne Biography

De Bruyne was born in Drongen, Ghent, Belgium on June 28, 1991 to parents Herwig and Anna. A result of his mother’s family history, Kevin spent his first few years of life moving around England and Africa. To keep up with his father’s business interests, his family often relocated for work. When Kevin was four years old and lived in Drongen, he had his first football experience. In high school, he started participating in football. In his youth, Kevin was inspired by the situation of Belgian football, which was in a dire state at the time.

Kevin had to leave home at the age of 14 because of a lack of infrastructure that could support his dreams of becoming a world-class football player. As part of Genk’s youth system, he enrolled in an academy to further his education and training. Even in his adolescent years, he was already acquiring notoriety from his appearances in the media during his first years at the school.

Despite the fact that he and his family had no lack of money, he was able to make a little money from the club. In this instant, the man he had always been became a man. In addition to spending just weekends with his family, he devoted himself exclusively to football.

On and off the field, Kevin is renowned for his quick temper. According to the Daily Mail, Kevin’s ex-girlfriend Caroline Lijnen cheated on him with Thibaut Courtois in 2013. When Kevin and Courtois were working out, he assaulted Courtois viciously, but the two ultimately made amends.

After putting in a lot of effort in 2008, he was selected for Genk’s first team and made his debut in May of 2009. He had to wait till the next year before he could build a name for himself. Genk had a fortunate season in 2010-11, winning the Belgian Championship. Five goals and 16 assists were Kevin’s totals in 32 games.

A match-winning effort against Club Brugge in October 2011 saw Kevin score his first hat-trick for Genk. After 28 games in the league, he had eight goals to his name. As of July 2012, Chelsea has added Kevin to their roster. For them, he made his debut in February of that year. Prior to the start of the 2012 Bundesliga season, Chelsea made the temporary transfer of Kevin to Werder Bremen official in August 2012.

Kevin De Bruyne – Education & Career

After a successful loan stint in the Bundesliga, Kevin returned to the official Chelsea line-up in July 2013. Kevin suffered a knee injury playing for Malaysia before the 2013-14 season. It didn’t stop him from making his debut for Hull City in the Premier League. During Chelsea’s win, Kevin assisted on the team’s opening goal.

Chelsea released him in January 2014 and he joined Wolfsburg in February of the same year. In the 2014-15 Europa League season, everyone was talking about the team’s outstanding performance. Two goals against Krasnodar and one goal against Bayern Munich helped his club to victory in the third group stage encounter.

Kevin finished the season with a league-high 10 goals and 21 assists, helping his side to a first-runner-up finish. This allowed them to comfortably qualify for the 2014-15 Champions League. After scoring 16 goals in his first season, he was named Germany’s Footballer of the Year. He had a career-high 21 assists, which was a record for him.

He ultimately agreed to join Manchester City in August of that year after being contacted twice by the English team in the first half of the year. Due to Aymeric Laporte’s goal in the EFL Cup Final at Wembley Stadium in April 2021, City’s victory against Tottenham Hotspur was made possible owing to the free-kick from De Bruyne. He scored in a 2–1 away victory against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League semi-finals.

In the second half of the Champions League Final, De Bruyne was substituted by Gabriel Jesus because he was injured in a clash with Antonio Rüdiger, but Chelsea won 1–0. Acute rib and orbital fractures were discovered during the post-match scans, and De Bruyne will not be able to play in the rescheduled UEFA Euro 2020 campaign. End-of-season honours included being voted Playoffs Players Association’s (PFA) Player of Year.

Kevin was expected to play for the English national team because of his mother’s ancestry in the country. A friendly match against Finland in 2010 marked his international debut for Belgium. Even at the underage level, it’s apparent he’s already represented his nation in a number of other places.

One of the first players to be selected for the 2014 FIFA World Cup, he was awarded ‘Man of the Encounter’ in the tournament’s opening match against Algeria in May 2014. He’s a part of the Euro 2016 squad and also represents his country at international level. Early on, his national team fared poorly and was ousted from the tournament. This year’s World Cup roster includes Kevin de Bruyne of Belgium’s national football team. During Belgium’s 2018 World Cup opener against Panama, De Bruyne set up Romelu Lukaku for a 3-1 triumph.

A 2–1 quarter-final win against Brazil in July 2018 saw him awarded man of the match for his second goal of the match, which came in the second half. In the semifinals, eventual winner France beat Belgium by a score of 1–0. On the 14th of July, Belgium defeated the United States in a third-place playoff match, 2–0.

He scored his first goal of the tournament in Belgium’s 2–1 victory over Denmark during their second UEFA Euro 2020 encounter, which occurred in June 2021. Portugal’s Joao Palhinha was to blame for De Bruyne’s ankle injury when they met in the round of 16 at Euro 2016.
