Elon Musk Biography
He was born on June 28, 1971, in Pretoria, South Africa. The model and dietician Maye Musk was born in Saskatchewan, Canada, but was raised in South Africa as a child of the apartheid era. A former half-owner of a Zambian emerald mine near Lake Tanganyika and a South African electromechanical engineer and pilot, Errol Musk is the father of Elon Musk. Kimbal and Tosca are Musk’s younger siblings.
In addition to Musk’s British and Pennsylvania Dutch ancestors, he had a paternal grandfather who was born in Canada but raised in the United States, Joshua Haldeman.
It was only two years after his parents split in 1980 that Musk decided to live with his father in Pretoria and other locations rather than with his mother. It’s no secret that Musk and his father are no longer on speaking terms. Musk calls his father “a horrible human being… Almost every awful thing you could possibly conceive of, he has done.” On his father’s side, he has a half-sister and a half-brother.
Musk filed for a Canadian passport via his Canadian-born mother because he knew it would be simpler to enter the United States through Canada. Musk was able to evade military duty in South Africa since he attended the University of Pretoria for five months while he awaited the necessary paperwork.
A year after his arrival in Canada in June 1989, Elon Musk worked odd jobs at a farm and a timber plant in Saskatchewan with his second cousin. During the 1990s, Musk enrolled at Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario.
The high cost of the rocket launchers, on the other hand, did not sit well with him. For the purpose of developing more economical rockets, Musk established Space Exploration Technologies (SpaceX) in 2002.
Its first two rockets, the smaller Falcon 1 in 2006 and the bigger Falcon 9 in 2010, were both planned to be far less expensive than their competition’s rockets when they were initially launched.
With a payload of 117,000 pounds (53,000 kilograms), the Falcon Heavy rocket (the first of which was launched in 2018) can deliver three times as much payload into orbit as the Boeing Company’s Delta IV Heavy rocket for a third of the price.
Super Heavy–Starship is the successor to the Falcon 9 and Falcon Heavy by SpaceX. In order to reach low Earth orbit, the Super Heavy first stage would be able to lift 100,000 kg (220,000 pounds).
The Starship, a spaceship built for rapid transit between cities on Earth and for the establishment of outposts on the Moon and Mars, would serve as the mission’s primary cargo. SpaceX also designed and built the Dragon cargo spaceship, which flies supplies to the International Space Station every two weeks (ISS).
As many as seven astronauts may board the Dragon, which flew to the International Space Station in 2020 with astronauts Doug Hurley and Robert Behnken. Musk hoped to lower the cost of space travel by creating a rocket that could take off and land back on the launch pad from where it was launched.
To test this technology, SpaceX’s Grasshopper rocket flew a series of short flights beginning in 2012. Musk is SpaceX’s CEO and also served as the company’s main designer for the Falcon, Dragon, and Grasshopper rockets.

Elon Musk – Education & Career
At the age of twenty-two, Elon Musk began his academic career at Queen’s University of Kingston before transferring to the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, where he graduated with a physics and an economics degree in 1997.
He applied to Stanford University in California to pursue a doctorate degree in physics, but he dropped out after only two days because he believed the Internet had a greater potential to impact society than physics did.
As early as 1995, he launched Zip2, a startup that supplied online newspapers with maps and business directories. Zip2 was purchased by Compaq in 1999 for $307 million, and Musk launched X.com, which subsequently became PayPal, a firm that specialized in online money transfers. In 2002, eBay paid $1.5 billion to acquire PayPal.
Tesla Motors (later renamed Tesla) was founded in 2004 by entrepreneurs Martin Eberhard and Marc Tarpenning and Musk became one of the major funders in 2004. Musk had long been interested in the possibilities of electric cars.
An automobile that could go 245 miles (394 kilometers) on a single charge was unveiled by Tesla in 2006, the Roadster. It was a sports automobile that could speed from 0 to 60 mph (97 km/h) in less than four seconds, in contrast to most prior electric cars, which Musk considered were stodgy and uninspiring.
The initial public offering of the firm in 2010 garnered around $226 million. After two years of development, Tesla unveiled the Model S sedan, which received high praise from the automotive press for both its performance and aesthetics.. Additional appreciation has been given to Tesla’s Model X premium SUV that went on sale in 2015. In 2017, Tesla began building the Model 3, a more affordable model.
For a time in August of last year, Musk stated his concerns about Tesla’s stock market listing and hinted that he had “got funds” to take the firm private. According to the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Musk’s tweets were “false and misleading,” and they sued him for securities fraud the following month.
Tesla’s board of directors rejected the proposed settlement with the SEC shortly after, purportedly due to Musk’s threat to leave. Tesla’s stock fell as a result of the revelation, and a tougher bargain was eventually agreed upon. Although he was permitted to remain CEO, Musk had to stand down as chairman for three years.
The Hyperloop is a pneumatic tube that could carry 28 passengers at a top speed of 760 miles per hour (1,220 kilometers per hour), nearly reaching the speed of sound, and Musk proposed it in 2013 after he became dissatisfied with the projected cost ($68 billion) of a high-speed rail system in California.
Tesla CEO Elon Musk said that the Hyperloop will only cost $6 billion and could carry six million passengers annually with pods leaving every two minutes on average. However, he argued that he could not commit time to the construction of the Hyperloop since he was also overseeing SpaceX and Tesla.

In a tweet, he referred to the British diver as a “pedo guy.” As a result of the public’s displeasure with Musk’s bizarre conduct, Tesla’s stock price dropped by 4%.
